Richard HoodName: Richard Hood
Country: UK
Date of birth:
Class: gp
Glider: LS8
Contest number: 352

With two silver medals in previous Club Class World Championships, Rich Hood is one of the hot contenders for the first UK Grand Prix.

Rich has a thirst for competitive gliding and relishes the focus you get when competing at the highest level. "The thing about World Championships is that you're flying against the best people in the world. You have to fly 100%. It's a massive challenge and you have to be completely focussed."

Rich comes from a successful gliding family. As well as his father having represented Great Britain in the1980s, his brother, Jez, was the 2003 Under 26 World Champion in the Standard Class. Outside of gliding, Rich works as an IT project manager, and currently flies at Booker Gliding Club.
